Gaffer privacy policy
Last updated 25 September 2026
Gaffer runs on your own PC. The only traffic leaving it is your own Claude Code calls, a once-a-day licence check that sends only your registration key to freehold-software.com, and, if you turn on repo metrics, read-only calls to GitLab or GitHub. There is no telemetry.
What the app collects
- Your registration key, sent to freehold-software.com once a day to check the subscription behind it is still active. The key holds your customer reference, plan and expiry date, and nothing else is sent with it.
Other services involved
- Anthropic, through the Claude Code tool you install and sign in to yourself.
- GitLab or GitHub, only if you enable repo metrics.
How long it is kept
Whatever the app stores stays on your own device, computer or server until you delete it. We hold none of it, so there is nothing for us to keep or delete.
If you subscribe
Subscriptions bought on this website are paid through Stripe, which acts as the seller of record through its Managed Payments service and adds the right VAT or sales tax for your country at checkout. We receive your name, email address, country and what you bought — never your card details — and use your email to send your download and licence.
Your rights, and who to contact
Mark Horne, trading as Freehold Software is responsible for this policy. Email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
This policy covers the Gaffer app. The website itself is covered by the website privacy policy.
